Why do I have to verify my address, and what do I need to do?

Modified on Mon, 01 Aug 2022 at 01:22 PM

You need to verify your address so we can confirm your identity in compliance with security regulations, and to deliver your CryptoWallet card.

To verify your personal address, you’ll need a Proof of Address document that matches the information you supplied when you registered your CryptoWallet account. Here are some requirements:

  • The document must show your full name

  • The document must have been issued in the last three months

  • The document must show your home address

  • The document must be dated

  • The document must be written in Latin characters, or have a verified translation attached

What kind of documents can I use?

You can use a bank statement with a transaction history, a utility bill with listed services shown, a home insurance document posted to your home in the last year, a government-issued ID card, a council tax bill from the last year, a government-issued letter posted to your home address, a bank reference that details how long you’ve held the account as well as a bank stamp and signature. You can also use mobile phone bills and payslips in certain countries [LINK], depending on regulations.

Please scan or photograph documents clearly so that our verification team can read all the information available. Images of documents must show the entire uncropped document from edge to edge. Please ensure that no section of the image is blurry or obscured by anything.

How can I verify my address?

To verify, open your CryptoWallet app and make sure you’re logged in to your account. For users who need to verify an address, there will be a message in your Preferences section saying “Prove Address.” Enter this screen and follow the on-screen instructions to upload your documents and confirm them.

You can open your camera to take a photograph of the documents. If you’re satisfied that all the information on the document is legible, submit the image to the CW team. You can also upload image files directly from your phone, such as scanned images. Verification should only take a few minutes.
