What are destination tags and when do I need them?

Modified on Mon, 01 Aug 2022 at 01:21 PM

Cryptocurrency destination tags are unique codes used to identify the recipient of a transaction. Some cryptocurrencies, like Ripple, Stellar, and Stellar-based currencies, require these Ripple (XRP) destination tags or Stellar memos as well as wallet addresses to complete a transaction. Some exchanges may require you to provide a destination tag when using these currencies with CryptoWallet, and you’ll be able to see your destination tags on screen in your CrypoWallet account.
